Today, we got an awesome client to work with: Robert Gegear, the founder of the Beecology Project!

The Beecology Project seeks to use the power of citizen science to gain critical ecological data on the conservation and restoration of endangered bumblebee species. In short, we’re helping save the bees! To say the least, we are extremely excited to be working with Rob to further his work in the area. But what does he want from us?

As part of the project, Rob has created a number of pollinator habitats that give native bumblebee species a safe area to live and thrive. For these habitats, he wants new signage that will promote the Beecology Project and get more people interested in being a citizen scientist.

The preliminary requirements we received were pretty simple:

  1. The design should fit a standard 8" x 12" metal sign.
  2. Their should be substantial use of the Beecology Project logo and name, as well as the slogan: “Restoring native biodiversity through the power of citizen science.”
  3. Their should also be a call to action for going to their website: www.beecology.wpi.edu.

Seems simple enough. Although, I have primarily worked on more digital designs than those meant for metalwork. That may throw a wrench in the design process. I will definitely have to do some research into the area. We’ll see how this goes! Follow our creative, design process in my next blog!
